Babyzen | YOYO2 Stroller Review

Hello! I'm the YOYO2 Stroller

The original French-designed YOYO stroller took the stroller world and flipped it on its head. The hallmark of this stroller is its super-compact size and easy folding ability. Because of the compact size, the YOYO stroller has affectionately become known as the overhead compartment stroller.

Many brands have emerged to compete with this stroller, but the YOYO has remained at the top. The evolution of the original YOYO stroller is now the YOYO2- its improvements have further distanced it from the competition.

Handlebar

As great as the YOYO2 stroller is, it’s a little disappointing it does not have an adjustable handlebar. If you have multiple users of this stroller, it may not feel ergonomic for all.

Babyzen has added an improvement with the new leatherette accent to the handlebar. This small change does add a more luxurious feel to the stroller.

Suspension

The YOYO2 offers a very smooth and comfortable ride, in large part due to its Hytrel® all-wheel independent suspension system. If you’re an urbanite, the YOYO2 will glide over bumps and cracks on sidewalks. On the other hand, if you live in a rural setting, the YOYO2 is probably not the best choice.

Seating

The YOYO2’s seating is comfortable as well as versatile. There are three seating options available for parents. They are the newborn pack (0+ pack), bassinet, and the 6+ pack.

Newborn pack (0+): This package looks similar to a bassinet. It consists of a fully flat mattress, a two-position canopy, head support, and a covered footrest.

Bassinet: This package has a ventilated bassinet with a canopy and a thick breathable mattress. Full disclosure, this stroller will not fold with the bassinet installed, but it will fold with the adapters attached. Check out the short video below.

6+ pack: This version has a padded, reclining seat, five-point safety harness, canopy, and footrest.

Storage

Since the YOYO2 is a compact stroller, the storage basket may not be adequate for all parents, and the maximum weight capacity is only 11.02-pounds. It should, however, be able to carry your diaper bag plus other small items.

Canopy

The canopy is waterproof and uses UPF 50+ fabric. As for sun protection, we wish the sunshade extended further for better protection from harmful UV rays. Babyzen must have thought the same because they have a parasol that can attach to the frame for added coverage.

Folding

The YOYO2 is all about the unfolding! The effortless unfolding is what is beloved. It quite literally unfolds in one or two seconds. By the way, the folding process is not too shabby either- it only takes two quick steps.

If you have ever seen someone walking around with a folded YOYO stroller, it looks like they are carrying a toy. It’s hard to believe it’s a stroller. The minuscule size allows you to hop in and out of buses, subways, and airplanes in a snap.

Brakes

There’s nothing spectacular about the braking system; other than it gets the job done. Babyzen’s push-push pedal will either engage or disengage the brakes with a push of your toe.

Travel System

Any stroller that is compatible with a car seat is considered a travel system by definition. A full-size stroller is a travel system, but I wouldn’t want to travel with one. We feel size and weight are factors that make a travel system worthy of use during your travels. Convenience, weight, and size are what separates the YOYO2 from its competition.

Babyzen collaborated with BeSafe® to create the YOYO car seat. It is a very safe and protective baby car seat, but if you prefer to use another brand, Babyzen offers adapters for Cybex®, Nuna®, Clek®, and Maxi-Cosi® car seats.

Accessories

Babyzen offers a considerable array of accessories for the YOYO2. However, we feel the only accessory missing from their lineup is a parent organizer. With that said; below is a list of their accessories:

Cupholder
Replacement Handlebar
Rain cover
Mosquito Net

Car seat adapters

Final Words

It’s challenging to improve the near-perfect design of the original YOYO stroller. The minor tweaks to the YOYO2 go a long way, though.

The overall feel is more luxurious, starting with Babyzen swapping out the foam grip on the handlebar with leatherette. The suspension system got a boost for better steering and a much smoother ride.

If you aren’t familiar with the first YOYO stroller, the other changes might not be noticeable. The other improvements are to the safety harness buckle, harness straps, recline controls, and the assortment of new colors.

The YOYO2 is the ultimate for busy, on the run, and globe-trotting parents. This stroller is the take it anywhere child transporter!
