Meet the Do-it-all UPPAbaby Minu!
The UPPAbaby Minu is much more than a lightweight and compact stroller. It’s so versatile; it can handle all your requirements from Day 1 until your child graduates from a stroller.
Handlebar
Much like many compact strollers, the UPPAbaby Minu does not have an adjustable handlebar. At 41″ high, the handlebar may not suit every parent or caregiver. Although, from a stylistic standpoint, the handlebar is wrapped in full-grain leather.
Suspension
You don’t often come across a compact stroller with all-wheel suspension. However, the UPPAbaby Minu is one such stroller. At the same time, we feel the shock-absorbing qualities of the suspension system are so slight; it does not make a noticeable difference. On the other hand, when you’re on a smooth surface, the Minu is buttery smooth!
Seating and Safety Harness
The Minu’s seat is firm yet well-cushioned. In addition, it’s roomy with plenty of headroom – this stretches out the life of this stroller. Plus, with three slots for the shoulder harness, it will also grow with your child.
The one-handed recline makes life a little easier, and so does the multi-position recline. One knock against the seating is; some parents feel the most upright position is still too reclined.
As for the five-point safety harness, it’s well designed; the buckling components are high-quality, and it has thick shoulder pads. As a result, it ensures a secure and comfortable fit for your child.
Storage
For a compact stroller, the UPPAbaby Minu has a large under-seat storage basket with a cargo capacity of 20-pounds. Not only that, on the back of the canopy, UPPAbaby added a large pocket with a velcro closure for everything you require within arms reach.
Canopy
The UPPAbaby Minu comes equipped with a large UPF 50+ canopy with an extendable sunshade. I’ve personally always pulled the sunshade out; I feel it provides nearly full-body coverage.
Of course, the Minu has a large peek-a-boo window that also serves as a ventilation panel. The panel has magnetic closures to keep the window closed when not in use.
Folding
As parents, there are times we don’t seem to have enough hands. Fortunately, the Minu can be folded and opened with one hand in seconds. Firstly, to fold the stroller, all you need to do is depress the trigger mechanism on the handlebar and push it down. Voila! Conversely, unfolding takes one additional step. You’ll need to unsnap the locking latch then pull up on the stroller.
As much as we like the way the stroller folds, we do have a couple of gripes about the folding. If the canopy does not fold in the right way, it will bind in the frame, and you will need to tuck it back in before you can fold the stroller completely. In addition, The stroller will not fold with the car seat adapters attached. It’s not the biggest annoyance, but it does put a wrinkle in your plans when you’re in a hurry.
Brakes
The Minu employs green and red brake pedals, unlike the boring white or black ones. It’s these small details that make this stroller pop. As you might imagine, the green pedal is to unlock, and the red is for locking. The brakes have a bite; once locked, the stroller will not budge!
Travel System
The Minu is the definition of a travel system due to its weight and the ability to accept multiple car seats. It’s worthy of use during your family’s travels via air. In particular, the stroller can fit in most overhead compartments, it has a shoulder strap, and because it only weighs 14.8-pounds, it’s easy to carry.
As for compatible car seats for the UPPAbaby Minu, UPPAbaby offers a car seat adapter that will work with Cybex®, Maxi-Cosi®, and Nuna®. And, of course, the UPPAbaby Mesa car seat.
Lastly, to attach the adapters, the seating fabric has to be removed- leaving the unsightly black frame of the seat exposed. It’s simply not a good look!
Accessories
The accessory line for the Minu may not be too extensive, but they offer the core accessories parents’ require. Below is a list of the available accessories:
