The Maclaren Quest

This Maclaren Quest stroller is lightweight and compact; it’s no wonder it’s a favorite amongst busy, on-the-go parents. The Maclaren stroller is lightweight and compact, but this doesn’t mean it lacks what parents and children require. In reality, it’s the complete opposite.

Without further ado, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of this stroller.

Handlebar

Maclaren uses two cushioned ergonomic foam grips instead of a traditional handlebar. The comfortable foam will dampen the vibrations transmitted from the ground into the stroller.

It’s not common for an everyday stroller to come with a tether strap. This strap is something more frequently included with jogging strollers. So having one is a bonus.

Frame

The Quest’s chassis is made of lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum. The aluminum largely contributes to the light 12.83-pound (5.82-kg) overall weight. Not only does this mean the stroller is light, but it’s also very durable.

Maclaren has included a carrying handle built into the frame, making it convenient to carry when the stroller isn’t in use.

Suspension System

You don’t often find compact strollers with four-wheel suspension, but the Quest has it! The suspension components on all four corners provide an ultra-smooth ride for your baby. Likely to provide uninterrupted sleep while your little one is taking a nap.

Seating

The seating system is full of comfort features for your child. Here is the breakdown:

  • Extra padded seat
  • Five-point safety harness
  • Four-position one-handed recline
  • Adjustable leg rest
  • Newborn Safety System

For those parents who are not familiar with Macleran’s Newborn Safety System, it’s two features to encapsulate your baby. There is an extendable piece at the top of the seat, plus a component similar to a footmuff on the leg rest. With both deployed, it encloses your baby. Words can only go so far; we suggest watching the above video to get a better sense of the Newborn Safety System.

Storage

The stroller has a storage pocket on the back of the seat and a basket under the seat. The storage pocket gives you easy access. But, the storage basket is not as easily accessible. The seatback gets in the way and creates a small opening. There’s access from the sides, but large items will be difficult to get in and out.

Canopy

The extra-large UPF 50+ canopy will ensure your child is protected from harmful UV rays. The peek-a-boo window will mean you can always keep tabs on your precious little one.

Folding

Folding is a breeze. The Quest’s one-handed fold takes seconds. It’s a matter of folding the canopy, unlocking the locking mechanism, and folding the stroller forward. With the carrying strap, you can fling the stroller over your shoulder and away you go!

Brakes

The braking system is simple but effective. You can choose to engage or disengage the brakes with the flick of your toes, with the pedals mounted on both sides of the rear wheels.

Travel System

From Day 1, with the application of the Newborn Safety System, the Maclaren Quest is ready to roll. For parents who want an even cozier environment for their baby, Maclaren offers a carrycot or bassinet. The carrycot can easily attach to the stroller immediately transforming it into a travel system, plus separate adapters are not required.

Final Words

As much as we love this stroller, we are a little apprehensive about using it as a newborn stroller. We feel there isn’t enough support at this delicate developmental time. Maybe Maclaren also feels the same, hence, the available infant body support. We may be a little cautious in our views, but we want all babies to be safe all the time.

In closing, the Maclaren Quest is an incredible compact stroller and there’s a lot of bang for the buck. It provides an option for parents who want features of a full-size stroller, but do not want to own one.
